Sergeant Zero review

sgtzero

Alright so lets just get passed the fact that I love the name Sergeant Zero. And yes I know it is similar to Adam Zero, but that isn’t the reason, though I do like Anthony’s taste. While this isn’t a full issue it’s actually a preview of the series, but the shorter nature of the book does nothing to detract from the fact that this is a winning combination. The artwork is tremendous and fits the overall mood of the book perfectly. While our downtrodden hero can seem like a leader in one panel and the broken man after the wars end in the next. The scenes depicted during the war have a gritty realism to them that is only enhanced by a superb coloring job. We also get the treat of some character design work to round out the book and show just how much work went into it.

Schiavino has been putting this book together for some time and you can tell from the level of detail he has built into the world he is creating. There is a group of indy creators out there right now who are putting out tremndous work and these guys belong right there with them. I give this book my full reccomendation.

You can also check out a preview of some more Sergeant Zero goodness from Pulptone. Makae sure to check it out.

  1. Thanks for the kind words Marc. We’re putting alot of blood, sweat, and tears into this. So much so we’ve seen a few things we’re adjusting for the first issue. Just to make it that much better. I’m hoping to add a few more little odds and ends in the back. We’ll see what happens. Depends on the format and if anyone picks it up.
