To color or not to color?
With word coming that the latest issue of Adam Zero( #5 to be precise) might finally see the light of day. We now come to a new problem with the series. As many of you know this series is a labor of love and that labor is pretty expensive. And with the economy the way it is it is getting even harder to keep the book above water. After the recent rash of printer mishaps that have kept putting the kibosh on this last issue we are now considering switching to black and white interiors from full color. The cost of printing in color is astronomical and severely cuts into the profits made off of any issues even more so when considering other costs like advertising and so forth. So as of now starting with issue #6 will be a true indy book and be going colorless except for the cover. This is the best option to keep Adam Zero coming out and somewhere down the line perhaps in one of the trades we’ll print the future issues in color.
I’m also looking into doing a webcomic of Adam Zero which will be posted right here at Rayguns & Sixshooters. I’ll keep you posted on any happenings with that as well.

This is something that I tackle in my head daily. It’s really just astounding when you price things out. On one hand companies tell me I need to color to get people to hold interest. But then on the other hand you want to do the right thing and get it into their hands at a cheaper price. It really I think comes down to how strong the artwork is. I think from the art above you can go either way and it doesn’t lose a beat.
But then again I’m doing my own coloring and lettering in addition to the writing so it really comes down to me just wishing I had somebody to do it in the first place!
